Nelly Larson grew up on a farm, and she loves everything about it. From the moment she wakes up to when she goes to sleep, she enjoys getting her hands dirty, whether it’s taking care of crops or animals. She loves the life so much, in fact, that she got her own homestead. She keeps so busy that she doesn’t have the time or the desire for a husband. She’s just fine being on her own, and no one is going to change her mind. Her sisters can’t believe Nelly will truly be happy if she doesn’t get married, so they take matters into their own hands and answer a mail-order husband ad on Nelly’s behalf.

Valentine Jefferson has been used to a life of comfort and luxury for his entire life. Then, all at once, he is a pauper. The only recourse he has is to find a wealthy heiress. He posts an ad searching for a suitable woman. Of the replies he gets, the one from a young woman who owns acres of land and manages her own homestead sounds the most appealing. While he has no idea what a homestead is, it’s apparent she runs her own business, and being a landowner must mean she has lots of money. So he runs off to Omaha to marry her.

When he finally meets Nelly, both of them are in for a big shock. While the last thing Nelly wants to do is hand over the running of her homestead to a man, he balks at the idea of doing chores on a farm.

In this romantic comedy, both might initially be in for a rude awakening, but it’s a romance so the happy ending is a guarantee…along with some laughter along the way.
